P0619 Code: Alternative Fuel Control Module RAM/ROM Error
The P0619 code means the gas (alternative fuel) control module detected an internal memory error in its RAM or ROM. Check its power supply and grounds before you replace the computer. Reprogramming the module often clears the fault.

What the P0619 code means
This code belongs to vehicles with an alternative fuel system, such as a CNG or propane conversion. The P0619 code is set when the module that manages that fuel runs its self-test and finds an error in its own memory. The problem is inside the module, so in many cases it can be solved by reprogramming it.
Before you condemn the computer, always check its power supply and grounds. Low voltage, a loose battery terminal or a corroded ground can cause internal errors that disappear as soon as the connection is fixed. It is also worth looking for manufacturer software updates, because many of these codes are cleared by reflashing the computer without replacing it.
If the computer does have to be replaced, keep in mind that it almost always needs to be programmed: VIN, immobilizer, option configuration and, on many vehicles, relearn procedures afterward. A used computer that has not been programmed can leave the vehicle unable to start.
P0619 code symptoms
- Check engine light on.
- The engine may not start or may run in limp mode.
- Other codes stored at the same time in several systems.
Likely causes of the P0619 code
- Computer power supply or ground problem. Low voltage or a connection with resistance.
- Disconnected or discharged battery. This is especially true for P0603.
- Software with bugs. Manufacturer updates exist for many of them.
- Moisture or corrosion inside the computer. Worn case seals or water getting in through the engine bay are the usual reasons.
- Internal computer failure. Consider this only after everything above has been ruled out.
How to diagnose the P0619 code step by step
- Clear the code and see whether it comes back. Some are caused by a one-time event, such as a discharged battery.
- Measure the voltage at the computer power pins and compare it with the battery voltage.
- Measure the voltage drop across the grounds. It should be under 0.1 volts under load.
- Look for technical service bulletins and software updates for your vehicle.
- Inspect the computer connector for moisture, corrosion or bent pins.
How to fix the P0619 code
- Correct the power supply and ground problems.
- Reprogram or update the computer.
- Replace the computer only if everything above checks out, and program it for the vehicle.
- Clear the codes and verify the repair.
Technical reference data
- Supply voltage: battery voltage, with less than 0.2 volts of drop.
- Programming needs stable voltage, so connect a battery maintainer first.
- Reference values: check the manufacturer data for your vehicle.
