Order of inspection
P0838 Four Wheel Drive (4WD) Switch Circuit Low Medium
The P0838 code means the signal from the four wheel drive switch is lower than the computer expects. The main effect is wrong shifting and a wrong speedometer reading in 4WD. A signal wire shorted to ground is the usual cause.
